23, December, 09 Good news for Hawaiian, management and pilots have come to an agreement after so long. BA cabin crew, tried to strike for Christmas and New Year. A judge deemed the strike illegal. This is the second major strike in the UK that this unusual step, by the courts has been taken. Other dispute was Metrobus. This has put unions in a tail spin. They will regroup and be back. Don't forget that BA maintenance are being balloted in separate cause. AA still has issues. Do you know BA, AA and Iberia are all going to merge!
September, 09 British Airways, American Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines unions starting to make rumblings about strike action for Thanksgiving (11/26) and Christmas holidays. Don't risk it, times of the essence. CSA-Chech Airlines is threatening to go under this month.
July, 2009 I'm afraid Open Skies is on it's way out. No surprise as it's owned by the badly managed British Airways. Moroccan, Royal Air Maroc, is just in chaos, choose another airline.
June, 09. If you are investing serious money on a trip this summer I strongly recommend that you don;t use American Airlines, British Airways and Air France. It maybe difficult, but try to find another airline doing the same route. Air France is striking every weekend in the summer,( PS, this was never confirmed, they've had a couple of bad accidents so the union may put the brakes on industrial action for a while. The issue just seemed to disappear..) BA is contemplating industrial action for this summer and AA is laying off 1,600 workers. I'm sure the average passenger is going to pay in some shape or form.
12 June, 09 Came across this article, Bill Warlick from Fitch Ratings, rates UAL, US Airways and AMR as the most troubled when measured by cash reserves as a percentage of annual revenue. He puts Continental and Delta next, with the low-cost carriers such as Southwest in better shape, partly because they're not exposed to the weak international-travel market. Read, great article by By DAVID KOENIG @ AP

NEW YORK (Reuters) - More U.S. airlines need to go out of business and the price of tickets must rise much further if the air travel industry is to survive record oil prices, the chief executive of Virgin Atlantic Airways VA.UL said on Wednesday.Reuters
12/6/08 Airlines say to expect the worst after the summer. ie. more airlines going under. Check your not booked on a non existent flight.
6/6/08 Believe it or not airline prices are cheap. How do I know this you ask. Between this May and last May air fares went up 6-8%, (great article by Scott McCarthy WSJ) fuel on the other had 62%. Now the airlines are ditching there gas guzzling planes and routes. See what is happening to the airports with this map from USA Today. We are going to be funneled into the huge hubs whether we like it or not.. Small and medium-size cities across the US will see reductions in airline service by year's end. Some communities will lose commercial service altogether.Less, more expensive seats, it's going to be a nightmare and a luxury.
Take the first flight out of the day and travel to cruise port two nights before you are due to cruise! Protect yourself. Pay with a credit card, it buys you time and Visa can get the money back. Buy trip cancellation insurance. Check your flight hasn't been discontinued if you booked it months ago. Before you book your trip see if they have been on or going on strike. Perhaps you can smell a go-slow which is the most annoying of all situations.
4 June Before you book, check your airline fees. msnbc

Following the loss of a key contract for our military charter business, it became impossible for ATA to continue operations. Unfortunately, we were not in a position to provide our customers or others with advance notice.
We apologize for the disruption caused by the sudden shutdown of ATA and regret the impact on passengers, employees, suppliers, and other parties. ATA customers should seek alternative arrangements for current and future travel. A list of other airlines serving ATA’s destinations is available here.
ATA customers who purchased tickets using a credit card should contact their credit card company or travel agency directly for information about how to obtain a refund for unused tickets.
ATA currently is unable to provide refunds to customers who purchased tickets directly from ATA with cash or a check. These customers may be able to obtain a full or partial refund for their unused tickets by submitting a claim in ATA’s Chapter 11 proceedings.
