Controllers will strike starting Monday, 9 October, 2017 early afternoon, not ending till Wednesday early morning 11th October. Your flight to and from Bordeaux will be delayed, cancelled or brought forward. Call your airline, be prepared to wait.

French Air Traffic Control Strike
9 March 2017 Flights hoping to get a break this afternoon. Perhaps you will be lucky. So far in Bordeaux departures (its 3:20pm local time) 55 on time, 8 delayed and 11 cancelled.
Perhaps you need to know? Berlin Schonefeld and Berlin Tegel baggage strike tomorrow and with Finland's Helsinki Vantaa airport.


Wednesday 8 March 2017 Strike in full swing today.
Departures today form Bordeaux 14 cancelled, 6 delayed and 53 flights were on time. Bordeaux airports flights will be affected till Friday 10th of March till 7pm.


28 February 2017 Brest and Bordeaux air traffic controllers back on strike
Monday 6 March 2017 starting 6am and ending Friday 10 March 2017 till the evening. Stay in touch with your airline. (Really not sure how this will effect the overall network) Air France unions kicking up next week.

20 December 2016 Announced yesterday, Spanish low cost airline, Volotea, cabin crew strike.
Volotea cabin crews will stop working 00:01 Saturday 24th and not go back to work till Monday 26th 23:59 hrs.

Flights to and from Bordeaux Airport
July 26, 2016 Top two busiest airlines in France are striking at the same time this week and next. Air France and Aigle Azur. Neither side will be be able to gain profits from others misfortune. 
Air France is on the ball with the strike action, not so sure about how Aigle Azur will do. they do have a notice up.

Update:-26 July 2016 Air France announcement today. Reminder HOP, KLM and Delta are not effected by any strike action. 
For Wednesday July 27, 2016 they state - We plan to operate more than 90% of our long haul flights, 90% of our domestic flights, and more than 80% of our medium-haul flight to and from Paris - CDG. As strikes go with only two of the three flight attendant unions striking. Flight delays and cancellations are really minimal. Stay in touch with them.

Tuesday July 26 Pilot’s for Aigle Azur will strike Thursday July 28 to Thursday August 4th. Last strike in May was cancelled and no agreement since then has been made.

French General Strike
July 15, 2016 New nationwide French general strike is being planned for Thursday, September 15, 2016. You will be inconvenienced in some shape or form. 
Expect taxi, public transportation - trains, (perhaps international trains) metro, buses and maritime workers - ferries to strike along with airline and airport workers. Minimal services will be in effect. You will still be able to get around just don't expect to be on time. Expect traffic jams in Paris, Lyon. 
Regarding flights:-
Air France always takes the brunt of any strike action. Prepare for the worst, your airport exit may be blocked by taxi’s. If so, you will have to "hoof it" with your luggage, children, elderly. 
Will French air traffic controllers join in? Unfortunately this information will not be available till closer to the date. It’s customary for air traffic controllers to give 48 hours notice before any industrial action. They might ask airlines to cut back flights to and from France by 10 - 30% or not at all. French Air Traffic Control Strike
15 May 2016 Flights from and to Bordeaux Merignac Airport will likely be delayed, cancelled or brought forward due to French air traffic control strike.
French air traffic controllers will strike on Thursday May 19, 2016. (and perhaps 26 May?) If strike goes ahead airlines will be asked to cut back flights to and from France. Stay in close contact with your airline. Air France will take brunt of strike action. French national rail company SNCF is also striking.
French taxi drivers are threatening to join in.

If you are changing flights in France and have a long lay over in a French international arrivals lounge. Get a French visa as you will be sleeping on a cot in the lounge while other passengers sleep in a comfortable hotel bed with private bathroom. March 2016 saw 140 passengers sleeping on the floor at Orly Airport.

Air France strike Saturday 2, August 2014

Announced 11 July 2014 Air France union CGT - UGICT asking all employees to strike Saturday 2, August 2014. Ground staff have called for stoppage between 01:00 - 24:00.
French airports that will support the labor strike:-
Airports in Corsica (again) Ajaccio and Bastia.
Bordeaux, Marseille, Lyon, Strasbourg, Toulouse, Montpelier, Mulhouse, Nice, Nantes, Paris Roissy, Charles de Gaulle and Orly. Strike will include all 
Air France subsidiaries.
700 Air France crew members to made redundant along with 700 jobs at Roissy CDG Airport under the new "Transform 2015" plan.

Old industrial actions
March 13, Flights between Bordeaux and Lisbon with TAP Portugal subsidiary Portugalia will be cancelled due to strikes by workers on March 21,22 and 23. Call them if you havent already.  Sata International and SATA Azores is also striking along with TAP. On a lighter side Iberia Airline strike is cancelled for a couple of weeks.

March 3, 2013 French transportation strike is planned for March 5. This includes French air traffic controllers. French air strike will start at Bordeaux–Mérignac Airport Monday 6 PM till Wednesday 6 AM. You will be delayed, call your airline before you show up at the airport.

Other airline strikes to hit Bordeaux–Mérignac Airport in March are Vueling strike because of Iberia airline strike and later in March Portuguese airline TAP strike is now being planned.
