4, Jan. 2010 3,300 dockworkers and port workers have walked off the job paralyzing container traffic at Le Havre, Marseilles, Dunkirk, Rouen, Bordeaux, Nantes-Saint Nazaire and La Rochelle. First of two 24 hour strikes.
Second strike next Monday, Jan. 11.  Passenger ferries not effected.

French ports strike, 24 hr, called for by CGT Union  On Nov 6, cross channel ferries, Corsica..France's seven largest ports, Le Havre, France's top box hub, and Marseilles, its biggest port by tonnage. Dock workers in Dunkirk, Rouen, Nantes Saint-Nazaire, Bordeaux and La Rochelle also will be striking.

French, rail strike, train travel. French train drivers will strike, from Monday, 8pm,  19, October, 09 to Tuesday, 20, October, 2009 at midnight.  "minimum service" will be in effect.  Called for by CGT and CFGT unions.  UNSA not taking part.  SUD rail will not strike, but will join the day of protests on 22, October, 2009

Cross-Channel strike threat by SeaFrance cross-Channel ferry crews this Friday, 16, October, 09 

Why?  500 layoffs, and perhaps loosing some cross channel ships.
Meeting between management and CFDT union this Monday 19, October. CFDT looking for a mediator.

Heads up, France strike, Tuesday, May 26 and  Saturday, June 13, 2009 French General strike nationwide. Change travel plans to earlier rather than later. 8 unions participating will effect French ports.

Port of Bordeaux have issued notice of strike action from August 5, 2009.

Day 2 in French fishermen blockade of French ports, Calais, Dunkirk and Boulogne-sur-Mer.  Trawlers blocked ships from entering or leaving the ports. Passengers and freight trucks seeking to cross the channel to England stayed overnight in the ports after the blockade began Tuesday.

3/19/2009 French ports at standstill today as with the whole country during this national strike.  

3/18/2009  French port strike, 6am Thursday to, not sure yet, if it is just for 24 hours.  Coincide with nation wide strike.

 French ports have also faced two weeks of protests by fishermen who have blockaded oil depots, clashed with police and disrupted ferry traffic to demand compensation for rising fuel prices

4/29/08   MARSEILLE (Thomson Financial) - Operations at the oil terminals at Lavera and Fos-sur-Mer and the goods and containers sectors in the autonomous port of Marseille in the south of France were disrupted Tuesday for the third consecutive week by work stoppages by the CGT (General Confederation of Labour) union, the port's management said. Union members are striking in protest against the reform of autonomous ports. Twenty-seven chemical products ships and oil tankers were left stranded at Fos-Lavera, while the goods and containers sectors were functioning at a slowed down pace at Fos and Marseille, the port authority said.
Ship repairs, the activities of freighters which transport heavy goods vehicles and the transportation of passengers were functioning as normal.

4/20/08  MARSEILLE, France, Port workers in the southern city of Marseille voted on Sunday to suspend a strike against dock reforms, an official of the CGT union said on Sunday, but said a new stoppage was planned for Wednesday reuters

French port union says will strike March 11-12, ports are Marseille, Dunkirk, Le Havre, Rouen, Nantes-Saint-Nazaire, La Rochelle and Bordeaux."All the state-owned ports will go on strike," a union member
